Art of ITALICUS 2021 – City Reimagined

ITALICUS® ROSOLIO DI BERGAMOTTO ANNOUNCES LAUNCH OF ART OF ITALICUS 2021: CREATIVE TALENT – CITIES REIMAGINED

Italian aperitivo brand announces the launch of its fifth annual “GLOCAL” creative project in partnership with contemporary arts platform Moniker Culture

London, 28th June 2021 – ITALICUS Rosolio di Bergamotto – the award-winning modern Italian aperitivo brand – announces the launch of the Art of ITALICUS 2021: Creative Talent – Cities Reimagined; a “GLOCAL” creative project and digital arts celebration starting on 5 July 2021. Thinking GLO-cal with loCAL cities and communities, it aims to inspire digital tourism by creating a global virtual arts celebration. This year’s announcement also sees ITALICUS celebrating its fifth brand anniversary on 1st September.

Working in collaboration with Moniker Culture, a world leading urban and contemporary arts platform, ITALICUS & Moniker has set the theme of ‘Cities Reimagined’ for this year’s competition. The open call to visual artists asks them to reimagine the city’s landscape and personality through the lens of ITALICUS, a modern and vibrant aperitivo with shapes and colours inspired by the aquamarine waters from the Amalfi coast.

Open for entries from 5 July until 3 August 2021, the competition is an open call to artists worldwide (T&Cs apply) to “reimagine” one of 14 selected cities: Rome, Milan, Los Angeles, Miami, New York, London, Barcelona, Paris, Sydney, Berlin, Athens, Tokyo, Hong Kong, Moscow. The artists can take inspiration from the city that they currently live in or one that they have visited and feel connected with or inspired by.

Using a variety of mediums such as: photography, digital illustration, drawing, painting, collage, animation and stop motion; artists should take inspiration from the ITALICUS brand when reimagining their chosen city. The brand draws on Italy’s rich cultural history that spans art, architecture, and nature. The iconic ITALICUS bottle is shaped as a Roman column with renaissance and baroque inspired details around the cap, all magically married with the aquamarine colours of the Amalfi coast, the birthplace of ITALICUS and hometown of Giuseppe Gallo, the brand’s founder.

The competition will result in one winner for each of the 14 cities, with each winner receiving a cash prize of €1,000. The top three artists will also receive: a digital exhibition of their work; social media coverage across ITALICUS and Moniker Art Fair’s channels; and a complimentary ITALICUS bottle and gift box.

New for this year, Art of ITALICUS 2021: Creative Talent will also include a Digital Arts campaign that will run throughout July and August on the ITALICUS website and social channels. The programme will include a series of live and digital events that will connect the artists from around the world, providing inspiration and sharing ideas for those competing in the contest.

ITALICUS and Moniker Culture have also partnered with five emerging artists who have created their own Cities Reimagined works of art to galvanise fellow artists and kick off the competition. They include pieces from Mr. Penfold (Miami), Vix Black (Milan), Roxane Dewar (Barcelona), Luke Smile (London) and Thomas Kirk Shannon (New York) and will be released during the campaign across the brand and artist’s Instagram channels.
