For a professional immigrant like me has never been difficult to settle down into a new city, but Rome is a special place and I feel a warm welcome anytime I’m visiting this beauty of art and history!
In recent years Rome has distinguished in Italy for the birth of several cocktail bars that helped to repositioned in few years l’antica Capitale Italiana with the major cocktail cities in Europe.
Patrick Pistoians and Federico Tomasselli have open The Gin Corner moreless a year ago, Rome’s first gin bar. The Gin Corner is located in the Hotel Adriano and stocks more than 60 gins from around the world. While the bar specializes in martinis and other gin-based beverages, Patrick and Federico also serves bespoke cocktails made with other spirits.
At historical Settembrini Café behind the bar his the young and talented Matteo Zed Zamberlan: strong international experience and prestigious awards, Matteo has brought a wave of creativity – and also a bit of open-medness – into the menu at Settembrini Café, must dell’aperitivo (along with generous canapés).
Daniele Gentili and Kris Rug are synonymous with quality and passion for mixology in Rome. The first one at Dulcamara and second one at Morrison, specializing in new trends of mixing: smoking cocktails or aged in barrels? Must taste !
Stylish bar inside the hotel De Russie, the Stravinskj offers a wide range of cocktails, served with delicate appetizer. There are sections on the menu theme: the cocktail made with Martini, Margaritas and Bloody Mary. The team has the creativity of the great barman Gianluca Amato.
Caffe Propaganda near the Colosseum have a reputation that precedes them, thanks to the wide selection of spirits and food and the care with which they are prepared. There is the vintage section, the seasonal, the fizz, as well as cocktails made with champagne, rum, brandy, whiskey and cognac.
Inspired by the underground bars active during the American Prohibition of the early twentieth century, this spot is managed by highly experienced mixologist Roberto Artusio and Antonio Parlapiano, in a project that takes its name from the american bartender Jerry “The Professor” Thomas.
The menu includes expertly prepared cocktails, gin, rum, barboun, absinthe, vermouth, cognac. The important thing is you do not ask for vodka and you know the password to enter !
Last, but not at least:
Massimo D’Addezio is an exceptional bartender. He was already 13 years ago, when he began making cocktails at Bar Stravinsky at the De Russie in Rome. He was good and we knew it all and the aura of the finest hotel in the capital, has contributed over the years to bring the legend of that name, so go and drink from him was worth it dress elegant.
But after 13 years, tired of the jacket and tie, D’Addezio chose freedom, put on trainers and opened the Bar CO.SO. in Pigneto, the whole thing is played on the concept of speak easy or rather the thing … speak CO.SO. There are a few seats, if you do not know Massimo hardly you will get there, if you know him than you know what will happen to you or you’ll see shortly…..
SALUTE!
