RUSSIAN`s PURCHASE GANCIA WINES

Holding “Russian standard” Rustam Tariko bought a 70 per cent stake in the Italian wine house Gancia.

It is stated on the website of the newspaper “Kommersant”. Details of the transaction the parties have not reported, but experts estimate the amount of 150-180 million euros. As indicated by the publication, he will become president Tariko Gancia.

The Wine House Gancia was founded in 1850. The area of ​​vineyards, cultivated the company of two thousand hectares. Products Gancia – wine and vermouth – is represented in the markets of 60 countries. In 2010-2011, sales Gancia was more than 70 million euros.

Gancia’s product portfolio falls into four categories: sparkling wines, still wines, apertif and specialty. The sparkling wine series includes Cuvée Classic Method, Cuvée Platinum and Pinot di Pinot. The aperitif family features Vermouth Bianco Gancia, Vermouth Gancia Dry and Vermouth Gancia Rosso.

Gancia enjoys leading position in sparkling wine and vermouth industry. Russian Standard has plans to develop and expand Gancia’s brands into Russia, reported Bloomberg.

The economic dowtown and difficult time in Italy did not help the small family business but hopefully a new opportunity still to discover.
