SPIRITS INNOVATOR GIUSEPPE GALLO LAUNCHES SAVOIA AMERICANO, A BOLD AND EXCITING VINO APERITIVO THAT IS SET TO REVITALISE A CLASSIC ITALIAN CATEGORY.
Inspired by Italy itself, this September, brand and spirits entrepreneur, Giuseppe Gallo launches Savoia Americano to breathe new life into the Americano category with a distinctive and bold flavour profile. The new release is proudly Italian in both style and substance and brings new complexity to the ever-increasing popularity of classic cocktails like the Americano, Negroni and Spritz; perfect for the go-to choice for bartenders and home cocktails makers alike, who are interested in aperitivo-style drinks.
The launch represents a chance to reinvent a historic category of drinks for the modern era. Savoia Americano is a vino aperitivo that is the first of its kind to use oak-aged D.O.C. Marsala Fino wine, which results in a unique and complex flavour profile. Savoia Americano represents a perfect mid-point between bitters liquor and red vermouth and captures both styles in one bottle; the bitter (“amaro”) and sweet vermouth (“dolce”).
Named after the royal family of Italy, the Savoia, the brand is a homage from the founder to the history and unity of the country, and is set to continue the theme of unity to combine the best of Italy in a cocktail. The timeless bottle, designed by Stranger & Stranger, is inspired by the famous Turin landscape with its most iconic building, La Mole Antoneliana. Its versatility, bold flavour and distinctive bottle means that Savoia Americano is likely to become a staple, for both professional and home bars, for years to come.
Crafted and bottled in a historic artisanal distillery in Turin, Italy, Savoia Americano is made with exceptional and predominantly Italian ingredients including artemisia, bitter orange and gentian root alongside a complex blend of more than 20 hand-selected botanicals, inspired by the historic “Bitter di Milano”, an authentic recipe that dates back to the late 1800s.
The liquid is made using traditional extraction techniques as well as maceration, distillation and cold-extraction, expertly overseen by Giuseppe Gallo in order to add a unique “amaro-dolce” flavour profile. The wine base is a blend of Trebbiano (Ugni Blanc) and a 14-month oak-aged DOC Marsala Fino, which perfectly match the bitter taste from the aloe, rhubarb and quassia wood, and are balanced with refreshing mandarin, pink grapefruit and bergamot, finished with gentle spice notes from cardamom and ginger.

METHOD
Fill a highball glass with ice and add the Savoia Americano. Stir gently and top with Soda Water. Garnish with three green grapes

METHOD
Fill a Highball glass with ice and add Savoia Americano, gently pour over the Orange Juice, and garnish with an orange wedge.

METHOD
Fill a tumbler with ice cubes, pour over the ingredients, stir gently, and garnish with an orange slice.
