The 2011 World’s 50 Best Bars list has been published by the UK Trade Magazine Drink International.

Once again continuity and consistency in costumers service and quality cocktails has been rewarded.

This year, New York speakeasy PDT (Please Don’t Tell) took the top spot, with London hotel bars The Connaught and the Artesian in second and third place.

But what about Italy? Sadly once again is no track of any italian cocktail bar in the top 50 as well most of these bars see italian talent behind the bar :

The Connaught Bar confirmed to be the best bar in europe and Ago Perrone to be the finest Italian mixologist in the world.

Simone Caporale is the young future at Artisan Bar in 3rd place and with him the italian flag definitely has a future in the industry.

The Dry Martini with Luca Anastasio demonstrate that not only italians are well know in UK but in Spain as well and nerveless the great Nightjar where Luca Cinalli tend the most innovative bar alongside with the greatest Marian Beke.

But what about italian bars ?

The Nottingham Forest in Milan run by the “MAESTRO” Dario Comini has all the characteristic to be in the list : creativity, knowledge and costumers service but somehow isn’t, however is and always will be the most innovative cocktail bar in Italy, Europe and probably in the world.

Unfortunately the rest of peninsula is out of the radar and with continuos polemics and wrong attitude I can’t see a bright future for the bar business in Italy, I really hope one day italian mixologist will start to work all together and combine skill and resource in order to re- establish Italy in the map of the bar world.
