In the fascinating world of cocktails great to highlight the fame and commerce success of the famous “Negroni SBAGLIATO” born in the early seventies at Bar Basso in Milan.
The MISTAKEN Negroni was invented in the early seventies by Mirko Stocchetto, Bartender at Bar Basso in Milan who wittingly or unwittingly, was the creator of a variant of the highly successful of aperitivo “trendy”.
The cocktail was born about 1969 at Bar Basso in Milan, after a curious incident.
Generally, all the bars that serve drinks, tend to have an established set up of the bottles, so that they are always in a certain place and are easily available, (the same principle of playing piano) so often no need to look at.
– One day a customer orders a Negroni at the counter.
– Mirko takes a glass, put the slice of orange, and takes the ice and pour the Bitter Campari and Martini Rosso Vermouth, than he puts his hand where the gin is and instead, for some reason, in its place is up the bottle of Prosecco.
Immediately, Mirko realizes the error, hence the word MISTAKE (Sbagliato) and asks to just replace the drinks served, but the guest enjoyed the “new” creation and asked for the same cocktail again.
The new combination of ingredients has its own consistency and texture and following this episode, the drink was named Negroni Sbagliato (Mistake).
Valuable qualitative note of its success is the presence of sparkling Prosecco as an alternative to Gin, that give space to the aromatic notes and taste of Martini Rosso and Campari Bitter and having a low alcohol content making it drinkable to a wider audience.
The genius, imagination, and sometimes the LUCK, are the secret behind the success of the MISTAKEN Negroni
