Every year, Mezcal Day invites spirits enthusiasts around the world to raise a glass to one of Mexico’s most enjoyed drinks. Rich in history, artistry, and cultural symbolism, mezcal embodies the spirit of craftsmanship, a philosophy deeply shared by Italicus Rosolio di Bergamotto. This year, we explore how tradition and innovation combine with Italicus’s cocktail recipe, the Mezcalicus.
Mezcal is far more than a drink; it’s a story distilled from the agave heart. Rooted in centuries-old traditional techniques, it represents a bridge between Mexico’s past and its modern cocktail culture. The smoky complexity that defines mezcal tells a story of its past, of hand-harvested piñas, and time-honoured distillation methods passed through generations.
This spirit of authenticity resonates deeply with Italicus, a liqueur born from a desire to revive the forgotten Italian Rosolio, and as the world of cocktails continues to evolve, Italicus remains a symbol of how authenticity and artistry can coexist beautifully. Both mezcal and Italicus pay homage to heritage while inspiring contemporary creativity, proving that the art of the aperitivo, or the art of the agave, can blend seamlessly.

At Italspirits, we believe the most exciting cocktails are born from cultural collaboration. The Mezcalicus is a perfect fusion, where Italy meets Mexico with an elegant, aromatic cocktail that unites Italian artistry with Mexican soul.
The Mezcalicus Recipe:
45ml Mezcal
45ml ITALICUS Rosolio di Bergamotto
15ml Fresh lime juice
5ml Agave nectar
Garnish with 3 green olives or lime slice
As Mexico prepares to celebrate Día de los Muertos, families gather to honour loved ones who have passed, not through mourning, but through joyful remembrance. Altars bloom with marigolds, candles glow through the night, and mezcal flows as an offering to spirits both earthly and ancestral.
It’s a moment of connection between life and memory and a celebration of what endures. In that sense, the Mezcalicus embodies the same sentiment: a fusion of the old and the new, and a tribute to traditions reborn through creativity.

Whether you’re toasting at home, hosting friends, or preparing an altar for Día de los Muertos, the Mezcalicus offers a moment of shared appreciation for craft, culture, and connection. This Mezcal Day, join us in celebrating the art of fine drinking with a Mezcalicus.
